- for The Death and Resurrection of Mother Earth
From the very beginning, you told us, God,
that it was not good for us be alone.
We were created to live with the earth and each other
and our own selves
but we need only pull back the curtains of our souls to see
that we are out of sorts,
harming our fellow humans
doing violence to the nurturing mothering Earth
that would sustain us.
As we gather for the love of this body and the grace of this cup,
may we remember the One who made this earth
who took on flesh for us
and let it be broken for us.
Loving Savior, you used your resources for our good,
showing us the way through death to new life.
In this simple ritual, may we be reminded that
the small offerings of our lives
can be multiplied like loaves and fish
for the communion of the world.
May we stop the breaking and come together
as agents of unity, healing and peace.
May the matter of the universe
Be the work that matters to us.
May the order of The Word
Calm the chaos of the cosmos.
Let us pray together:
from the Book of Common Prayer:
Most merciful God,
we confess that we have sinned against you
in thought, word, and deed,
by what we have done,
and by what we have left undone.
We have not loved you with our whole heart;
we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves.
We are truly sorry and we humbly repent.
For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ,
have mercy on us and forgive us;
that we may delight in your will,
and walk in your ways,
to the glory of your Name. Amen.
All are welcome to receive the blessed gifts
